CCSA Statement on CCSA vs. LAUSD, CA Superior Court Decision, Regarding Prop. 39 Facilities Lawsuit
On June 27, the CA Superior Court issued a ruling finding that LAUSD has failed to comply with Proposition 39 and its implementing regulations in calculating school space, including the number of classrooms, offered to charter schools for the 2012-13 school year.

Superior Court Issues Order in Favor of Bullis Charters School
The Honorable Patricia Lucas of the Superior Court of the State of California issued a judgment that requires the Los Altos School District to provide Bullis Charter School with a school site that complies with Prop. 39.

Prop. 39 Cycle Forges Ahead
The Proposition 39 cycle continues to move forward this year, and on February 1, we once again marked the deadline for districts to respond to charter schools that applied for facilities with preliminary offers. Charter schools are required to respond to these preliminary offers by March 1. In the past, many districts have not complied with Prop. 39, and with that in mind, CCSA has been monitoring the process closer than ever.

Parent Voices Make the Difference on Charter School Facilities
More than 150 charter schools across the state submitted requests for facilities to their districts under Proposition 39 last year and many did so again this year by the Nov. 1 deadline. They won't receive final offers of space until April, but Families That Can has already started working with several schools to harness one of their most powerful resources - their parents.

CA Appeals Court Rules Unanimously in favor of Bullis Charter School, Overturns Lower Court on Prop. 39
The California Court of Appeal for the Sixth District yesterday unanimously overturned a lower court's ruling on Proposition 39. The decision clarified the "reasonably equivalent" standards for school districts that are required by law to provide charter schools equal facilities to those of district public schools.

CCSA knows that finding and securing facilities can be challenging work for charter schools. The Association will once again offer a variety of resources for our members, including templates, pro-bono legal reviews for member applications in selected regions, and technical support from CCSA's Help Desk. This year, however, we will also be trying something new.

CCSA Statement on LAUSD's Prop. 39 Offers
The Los Angeles Unified School District released a list of final offers for Prop. 39 facilities. Jed Wallace, president and CEO of the California Charter Schools Association, issued this statement responding to the increase in the number of offers, and sharing his concerns on the quality of the offers.
