Each year as a part of our annual California Charter Schools Conference, we take the time to honor some outstanding achievements from across the movement through the presentation of the Hart Vision Awards. The awards recognize individuals and schools that have made significant contributions to the Association's mission to increase student achievement by supporting and expanding California's quality charter public school movement. The awards are named in honor of Gary K. Hart, a retired California State Senator and former California Secretary of Education who sponsored the legislation that established California charter schools. The goals of the Hart Vision Awards are:

  • To recognize and honor annually individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and excellence
  • To model best practices
  • To communicate and impact educational issues and policies by awarding excellence in the charter schools movement

The call for nominations is open statewide for the Teacher of the Year and Volunteer of the Year Hart Vision Award categories. We are asking charter school members to submit nominations for deserving teachers and volunteers to receive these awards at our upcoming 19th Annual California Charter Schools Conference in Sacramento, CA from February 27-March 1, 2012.

You know the field of candidates best! Why not take a moment recognize those teachers and volunteers that have risen to the top over the past year?

The nomination window for these awards is open until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2011.

Please note that nominations must be submitted through the online system ONLY and late or incomplete applications cannot be considered.
