February 23, 2011: CCSA's first annual Portrait of the Movement report is now available. The report details charter schools' academic performance using the new Similar Students Measure (SSM) and an expanded accountability framework, both of which utilize existing state achievement data. Portrait of the Movement offers reasons for hope, such as charters' contributions to accelerating the closure of the achievement gap, but also reveals where improvements can be made by charter schools. The report puts forth minimum performance criteria for charters and identifies high impact schools.
