Why should I attend?

CCSA knows that the best advocates for individual charter schools and for the broader movement are our members. CCSA's Advocacy Day is a chance for your school to meet with your local legislators in their Sacramento offices to request their support and most importantly, to help them understand the issues facing the charter schools movement by meeting charter school leaders, parents and students from their districts.

Who should I bring?

We encourage school leaders, teachers, parents and mature students to participate.

Is there a cost to participate?

Participation in Advocacy Day is a membership service provided by CCSA and is free to all CCSA member schools.

What is the agenda for the day?

During the event, there will be time to network with other leaders and parents, tour the Capitol and listen to inspiring speakers. Participants should plan on arriving on the Capitol's West Lawn by 9:00a.m and departing by 5:00p.m.

How will I prepare?

CCSA will ensure your delegation is prepared and confident for your meetings with legislators by offering pre-event and on-site training and materials, including information on critical legislation affecting charter schools and tools for effective meetings with legislators and their staff. Check out our 5 minute "How to Have an Effective Meeting with a Legislator" video to get started! Feel free to email governmentaffairs@calcharters.org with questions.
