The San José Charter School Consortium consists of high-quality charter schools and charter school advocates who have a similar vision to reform education in San Jose and to increase college success for all students. The Consortium's mission is to close the k-12 achievement gap in San José in order to increase college success.
The founding members of the Consortium are KIPP Bay Area, Downtown College Prep, Rocketship Education, ACE Charter School, and People Acting in Community Together, along with CCSA. Consortium schools must be current members of CCSA. In addition, schools must meet mission-specific requirements related to student population, student achievement outcomes, and accountability in order to be Consortium members.
The Consortium believes that:
- Charter schools are an essential part of the solution to persistently failing neighborhood schools
- All students deserve a space at an excellent school and deserve college success
- Charter schools prepare students for success in college
- Parents and families are critical to student success
- Collaboration promotes quality growth
- San Jose is poised to be a leader in closing the achievement gap
The Consortium will accomplish its mission by:
- Working together to promote the growth of high-quality charter schools
- Having high standards and accountability measures for academic and organizational performance
- Engaging parents as leaders and advocates
- Gaining local and national champions among city and community leaders and key funders
- Radically increase the public awareness of charter schools and the charter school movement city-wide
